The Greater Masaka Police have made a significant breakthrough in the kidnapping case of a 7-year-old pupil from Dimo Landing Site in Masaka District.
Twelve individuals have been arrested in connection with the abduction, which took place on March 21, 2025, at around 7:00 am.
According to Greater Masaka Police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, it is believed that the victim was kidnapped by two men riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle while she was on her way to school.
The kidnappers later contacted the victim’s family, demanding a ransom of UGX 200,000, which was paid immediately.
However, there was no further communication from the abductors after the ransom was delivered.
Kasirye revealed that a rescue operation was carried out by the police at 5:00 pm, leading to the safe recovery of the child.
The kidnappers had dropped the child off at a GAZ Petrol Station in Kalisizo, Kyotera District, after being tricked into doing so in exchange for a ransom of UGX 5 million.

Investigations show that the kidnappers had arranged for the child to be transported to her mother by taxi, but the police were able to intercept the suspects during the process.
Among those arrested are Nelson Lutaya (a motorcycle rider), Maria Gorrete Nambajjo (accomplice), Prossy Namugamba (sister of the prime suspect), Rosemary Namukwaya (mother of the prime suspect), Matia Serugo (brother of the prime suspect), Yuda Kasumba (father of the prime suspect), Tonny Sikyomu (friend of the prime suspect), Robert Yawe (friend of the prime suspect), Paul Kiwendo (accomplice), Hussein Muhammad (accomplice), Dennis Masereka (taxi driver), and Emma Wamala (taxi conductor).
Kasirye confirmed that the main suspect, Pius Tusibira, is still at large. “We urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward and share it with the police in confidence,” he added.
