Police in Naggalama are investigating a serious road accident that left 17 people injured on the evening of August 12 along the Kasawo-Natonto road in Lusera Village.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. and involved a white Fuso Fighter truck, registration number UAY 514M, which was reportedly carrying passengers from a political campaign event in Kasawo Subcounty.
According to preliminary reports, the driver, who remains unidentified, lost control of the vehicle upon reaching a swampy section of the road, causing several passengers to be thrown off as the truck skidded and became stuck in the mud.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said three other victims, who have not yet been identified, were rushed to Kayunga Referral Hospital in critical condition.
He said police responded promptly to the scene, recorded statements from eyewitnesses, and created a sketch map as part of their ongoing inquiries. Authorities are working to establish the exact cause of the crash and to identify the driver responsible.
