The Uganda Police Force has apprehended Lantgtom Mugume, who is accused of falsely presenting himself as a senior police officer.
According to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, Mugume, a 23-year-old unemployed individual from Namugongo, was taken into custody on October 23, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Kitintale Police Station for impersonation.
He allegedly posed as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) affiliated with the Crime Intelligence Directorate but was discovered in possession of a toy pistol.
“Langton had come to inquire about a motorcycle theft suspect in custody. He’s been charged with personation and is being held for further investigation to determine if he’s linked to other crimes and uncover his motives,” he said.
