Shock has hit the residents of Masanda cell in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, after a family of four was discovered deceased in their small room.
The deceased have been identified as Simon Nyanzi, a 40-year-old motorcycle taxi operator, along with his three children: Pius Kabanda, aged 8, Priscilla, 7, and a two-year-old identified as Praise.
On November 15, 2024, neighbors became worried when they noticed that Nyanzi had not opened his door, and his children were not with their usual caretaker.
Upon further investigation, they found the door closed but not locked, leading to the heartbreaking discovery of the family members lying on a bed, fully clothed and presumed to be lifeless.
The Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Patrick Onyango noted in a statement issued on the same day, that the neighbors quickly alerted other residents and the area chairman, who reported the incident to the police.
“Police responded promptly, collecting statements from witnesses and transporting the bodies to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination,” he noted.
He said investigations are ongoing, with no suspected substances found at the scene.
“Notably, Nyanzi Simon’s mobile phone was recovered, but all contacts had been deleted. The mother of the victims is currently working abroad in Arab countries,” he added.
Onyango said the police in Nsangi are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
