The first National Vice Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, Moses Kigongo, officially initiated the nationwide digitalization of the party’s membership register.

Kigongo commenced this initiative during a training session for data center supervisors held at the Party National Secretariat located at Plot 13, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.

In his address, he urged the trainees to ensure the integrity of the process across all centers.

He warned the team against engaging in activities outside their designated responsibilities, such as soliciting funds from politicians for unauthorized entries.

“The party will rely on your efforts to maintain a clean and credible membership and voters’ register,” he noted.

The Party Secretary General, Richard Todwong, emphasized that the teams dispatched for the task must be prepared to work extended hours to ensure a trustworthy outcome.

He noted that the process will involve removing names of deceased members, those who have moved to different locations, or individuals who have joined other political parties, while also incorporating new members into the NRM.

“I urge you to approach this task with the utmost seriousness. It demands careful attention to ensure that no eligible members are overlooked,” he added.

Hajjat Medina Naham, the Director of Finance and Administration, highlighted the significance of the party register in facilitating free and fair internal elections in preparation for the 2026 general elections.

“An updated register will help us avoid the disputes and conflicts among party members during our primaries, which have been observed in certain areas in the past,” she remarked.

The launch event was attended by members of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) and senior officials from the NRM Secretariat.
