Police in Entebbe are investigating a deadly fire outbreak that occurred on March 5, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. in Kisubi Village, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District.
The fire claimed the life of one and half year old Immaculate Nalunkuma, a daughter to Kituuka Morris, a 45-year-old resident of Kisubi Cell.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, said two people sustained minor injuries.
They include Rachael Kiconco, a 32-year-old housewife, Kituuka’s wife and Emannuel Kalyesubula, a four-year-old son to Kituuka.
According to neighbors, the fire started at around 10:00 p.m., prompting Kiconco Racheal to raise an alarm.
Onyango stressed that deceased dies as a result of intense fire.
“The neighbors attempted to extinguish the fire using sand and water but were unsuccessful. They managed to remove some properties from the unaffected rooms,” he added.
He said the police and fire rescue team from Entebbe responded to the incident, and the fire was eventually extinguished.
“The six-roomed house suffered significant damage, with three rooms severely burnt,” he added.
Onyango noted that the inquiries are still underway to establish the cause of the fire and circumstances surrounding the incident.
