The President of Uganda, Gen. (RTD) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has received a prestigious award in acknowledgment of his significant role in promoting African liberation.
This honor was bestowed upon him during the two-day African Youth Congress 2025, a vibrant youth event which was held at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, where Museveni was presented with the inaugural “Liberation Centurion Award,” recognizing him as a pivotal figure in the Pan African movement across the continent, while his counterpart the Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa was also honored with the “Liberation Vanguard Award” for his efforts in fostering discussions that further Africa’s integration. Additionally, former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga also received the “Pan African Freedom Champion Award” for his numerous contributions to Pan Africanism.
Notably, all three leaders were recognized in absentia, as they were participating in the Fourth Edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), themed “The Nexus of Next Supercharging Sustainable Progress.”
