Events promoter and talent manager Abby Musingunzi, known as Abtex from Abtex Promotions, has no kind words for the incarcerated dancehall artist Alien Skin.
Abtex criticizes the singer, suggesting that his arrest is simply a realization of the saying “better late than never,” given Alien’s reckless behavior that he describes as both wild and unrefined.
The local dancehall artist was remanded to Luzira Prison over alleged theft of an iPhone Pro 5 valued at shs3,000,000 in September, 2024. He is returning to Court on November 25, 2024.
Additionally, law enforcement is probing the singer and his team for their suspected roles in a murder case and the assault of staff members at Nsabya Hospital.
Abtex points out that the musician has resisted necessary change, failing to transition from a common lifestyle to that of a celebrity.
He questions Alien’s treatment of his close friends, implying that it raises serious concerns about his character.
Furthermore, Abtex claims that Alien is consistently ill-mannered, having been booked by various local promoters only to not show up for performances.
He also notes that the artist has let down promoters abroad, often making childish excuses for missing flights or trips.
Abtex believes that a year in custody could serve as a crucial opportunity for Alien to reflect and improve his behavior, should he be someone capable of learning from his mistakes.
Abtex also comments on the implications of Alien’s arrest, stating that it has opened the door for quality, educational, and inspirational music that has long been overshadowed.
He expresses optimism that this is the moment for meaningful music to shine, as the era of superficial pop music has come to an end.
Regarding Alien’s past actions, Abtex asserts that he should have faced consequences long ago, recalling an incident where Alien vandalized Bajjo’s car, a reflection of his unruly persona.
While their relationship soured after the Freedom City concert due to disputes over revenue sharing, Abtex remains hopeful that Alien can find a path to redemption.
