Kitagwenda District : Emolyne Ramlov, the Founder of the Emolyne Legacy Project, together with her family, has distributed over 18,000 coffee seedlings to farmers in Bwera Parish, an initiative aims to uplift the community by improving livelihoods through agriculture, which is the primary income source for many families in the area.
The distribution event took place at Balyanika Primary School under the theme “Grow and Earn.”
Representing Emolyne, Ms. Brenda Nampijja, alongside Emolyne’s brothers and her late father’s family, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “Our needs assessment in November 2023 and March 2024 revealed that 90% of Bwera’s population are farmers. By providing coffee seedlings to over 200 farmers, we aim to monitor their growth and support the community’s development. We believe this will enhance living standards, enabling families to educate their children, access healthcare, and more. This is part of our legacy for our late father,” she stated.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kitagwenda District, Mr. Phillip Nabaasa, commended the generous donation and urged the people of Bwera Parish and the business community to embrace a charitable spirit and assist government efforts to enhance services. “Bwera Parish is fortunate to have an inspiring daughter, Ms. Emolyne Ramlov, dedicated to uplifting her community. We encourage all leaders in this parish to unite and foster growth,” he said.
Mr. Nuwagira further noted, “Planting these coffee seedlings in your gardens is a significant opportunity. Transparency and unity among farmers are crucial for success. As the District and the Government of Uganda, we encourage citizens to plant more coffee to enhance income generation and agriculture in the coming years. We applaud these efforts and call upon other Ugandans to join in supporting this noble cause.”
