The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), the second largest opposition party in Uganda, has welcomed back its members who departed for various reasons.
This announcement was made by the party’s president, Patrick Amuriat Oboi.
“We have been approached by a number of our former members expressing a desire to return to the party and actively participate in the party activities including mobilization towards the forthcoming elections,” he noted while addressing journalists the party head offices in Najjanankumbi.
Eng. Amuriat noted that the FDC Constitution in article 12 gives opportunity to any returning member to do so within the requirements of the Constitution.
“I am therefore on behalf of top management inviting all our former members to feel free and return home to their party,” he added.
To facilitate this exercise, NEC will set up a reception desk at every district for purposes of coordinating return of our former members.
“I wish to inform the public that the party has attained stability, thanks to the
commitment by the leadership and members. Any previous challenges that we faced have been decisively sorted,” Amuriat added.
He stressed that the party has also embarked on an aggressive campaign to encourage young people of to join the party and to seek leadership positions by participating in the forthcoming exercise of party structure formation and refilling of vacant leadership positions.
“The party offers equal opportunities to everybody and I therefore make carrion a call to citizens especially the youth to join the FDC as one of their first choice,” he noted.
