The Uganda Police are actively searching for their former Police Commander of Wandegeya, Byende, and Koboko due to allegations of desertion.
Authorities assert that Samuel Ebwang abandoned his post and moved abroad without following the proper resignation procedures.
During a weekly security briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru, a suburb of Kampala, police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma stated, “I can confirm with certainty that he has deserted.” He emphasized that Ebwang did not submit a resignation letter or formally request to leave the force, declaring, “He is a deserter.”
Images of the officer circulating in the media have led to speculation about a gender transition.
However, Kituuma said they cannot confirm the claims until they apprehend him on desertion charges and later clarify his gender.
