Stakeholders in insurance sector have observed urgent need for the public to prioritize the fight against Non- communicable disease by adhering to physical exercise.
Amoko Allen, head corporate business at Jubilee life insurance said that the big portion of claims that the insurance sector spends on medical bills, goes on treating cleints with NCDs.
Referred to as the silent killers, NCDs account for approximately 33% of all deaths in Uganda, according to recent figures by the World Health Organization.
Ms Amoko was speaking during a press conference in Kampala where Jubilee life insurance extended its support to BIFA, an Alumni team that plays in Buddo league.
“Buddo alumni sports league is a unique platform that should be preserved and supported for its role in the fight against Non-Communicable Diseases.” Ms Amoko added.
Among the top risk factors that continue to aggravate the worrying statistics is the urban lifestyle which has left many people inactive.
“Non communicable are a critical health challenge in Uganda, accounting for a significant portion of deaths. Embracing physical exercise is one of the most effective ways to combat this growing crisis. “We are delighted to partner with BIFA Club in making a significant impact towards reducing the burden of NCDs and fostering healthier, more vibrant communities,” said Mrs. Amoko.
She emphasized that beyond fostering social connections among former schoolmates, alumni sports leagues play a vital role in preventing cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases.
“This is what modern-day insurance is all about. It is more about preventing unforeseen challenges before they arise, not just paying out policies. More than ensuring you have a health financial lifestyle through our diverse investment options like the Jubilee Venture Plan, SMART Save among others, firstly, we want you to be in great health physically,” She explained.
The BIFA Club chairman Kapalaga Kimeze underscored the importance of the partnership with Jubilee stating that; “The Sponsorship has been a cornerstone of our success this season.”
“Jubilee’s support has allowed us to focus our energies more on pitch, on what we do best—competing at the highest level while fostering unity within our team and community. From covering critical costs such as jerseys and league subscription fees to ensuring that our operations run smoothly, Jubilee’s sponsorship has directly contributed to our performance and growth,” he further noted.
Currently perched atop the Buddo League season-8 table, Kimeze embraced the responsibility that the newly acquired partnership comes with emphasizing that BIFA Club is more determined than ever to finish in the best possible position and make both the supporters and sponsors proud.
