Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura is mourning the tragic loss of her brother, Albert Cook Tugume, who was among the two who were shot by unidentified assailants.
The deceased who passed on was allegedly operating Mobile Money shop this evening, at the time of the attack in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb.
This is suspected to have been a mobile money shop raid.
Initially, the Deputy Lord Mayor Nyanjura announced her brother’s abduction via her X account (formerly Twitter), later confirming the unfortunate news of his death due to gunfire from unknown perpetrators.
“My brother Tugume Albert Cook has been abducted on gun point from Central Road, Ntinda Kigowa road. One person has been shot dead. He operates a mobile money shop,” she wrote and tagging in police.
She subsequently expressed her sorrow, stating, that her brother had been murdered.
However, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luke Owoyesigyire, verified the incident on X and assured the community that more information would be forthcoming.
“Kira Road Police have responded to a scene of aggravated robbery in Ntinda. Tragically, one person has been confirmed dead, and another sustained injuries. Further details will be provided as soon as Possible,” he wrote.
The further noted that police have launched an investigation into the incident, to have the culprits brought to book.
