As the excitement builds for this year’s Lady Captain’s Prize Tournament set to take place this Saturday 15th March 2025 at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala, MTN Uganda has once again stepped up as a key partner, reaffirming its commitment to empowering women in sports.
The tech giant has been instrumental in fostering female participation in golf, aligning its efforts with the broader celebration of International Women’s Month.
This year’s partnership with the Uganda Golf Club not only underscores this commitment but also enhances the tournament experience, with MTN offering convenient access to its services at the club and drinks available for just UGX 1,000 via MTN’s Pay with MoMo platform.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, ahead of the tournament, Justina Icabala, MTN Uganda’s Business Segments Manager, highlighted the company’s passion for inclusivity in sports.
“At MTN, we believe that diversity and inclusion are powerful drivers of progress. Golf, like any other sport, should be accessible to everyone, and we are proud to support the incredible women breaking barriers in this space,” said Icabala. “Our partnership with the Uganda Golf Club for the Lady Captain’s Prize Tournament is yet another step towards creating more opportunities for women to shine. We believe that Together, our passion is unstoppable”.
The Lady Captain’s Prize Tournament also marks the end of Wendy Angudeyo’s tenure as Lady Captain, a period that has seen remarkable growth in women’s golf participation. Expressing her appreciation for MTN’s continued support, Angudeyo reflected on the impact of corporate partnerships in elevating the game.
“We have seen incredible progress in women’s golf, thanks to the unwavering support of partners like MTN who share our vision of inclusivity and empowerment. It has been an honor to lead this journey, and I am confident that the next chapter will be even greater.”
In addition to MTN Uganda, Angudeyo thanked the various sponsors namely Equity Bank, Vivo Energy, crown beverages, Uganda Breweries Limited, Fly Dubai and Fairway hotel among others for supporting the sport and making it accessible to women.
With anticipation high for the tournament, players and fans alike are gearing up for what promises to be a memorable event with at least 200 women expected to grace the course. As MTN continues to champion women in sports, the future of female golf in Uganda looks brighter than ever and indeed, unstoppable.
