The president expressed his appreciation to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) for their efforts in empowering Muslim women through the establishment of the National Muslim Women Council.
He urged Muslim women to combat poverty by participating in government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.

He also reassured them that the government aims to alleviate the burden of money lenders by providing loans with little to no interest.
Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, shared that in the past, UMSC was hesitant about women participating in public life, but they have since recognized the importance of women’s involvement in the country’s socioeconomic development.
He noted that the Muslim community in Uganda is now more united, despite some minor disruptions from a few individuals.
Hajjat Sophia Kenyangi Safina, Chairperson of the National Muslim Women Council, conveyed to the president that the council represents more than just an organization; but embodies the powerful influence of Muslim women in driving change.
She highlighted the significant roles of Muslim women as leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, and caregivers in shaping the future of Uganda.
