The Uganda Wildlife Authority-UWA has released new guidelines for motorists passing via Murchison Falls National Park.
This follows the temporary closure of Karuma Bridge, for renovation which is expected to last for a period of three months.
During the three months period, all vehicles using the alternative route through Tangi and Bugungu gates via Buliisa Town Council will be exempted from paying entry fees.
In these new guidelines, UWA is advising motorists to consider using other routes, such as the Masindi port ferry or the ferries along the Luwero-Nakasongola-Kafu Rwenkunye route, to ease transit.

The park operates from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Transit visitors therefore urged to enter the park no later than 6:00 pm to ensure timely exit by 7:00 pm. Any entry beyond these hours is strictly prohibited.
UWA emphasized that strict enforcement will be applied on speed limit as no motorists will be allowed to beyond 40km/h. Motorists caught speeding will face immediate fines of Shs100,000.
The authority said, in the event that a vehicle accidentally kills wildlife, a $500 penalty will be imposed.
Unnecessary stops are not allowed, littering within the park is also prohibited and UGX 100,000 fine has been set for violators.
Giving wildlife animal food stuffs is also strictly prohibited, as these activities disturb animals and pose safety risks.
UWA called upon all motorists to comply with the guidelines for the benefit of Uganda’s natural heritage, the safety of passengers, and the convenience of tourists.
