As the countdown to the Kisoro District Woman MP byelection gets closer, top leaders from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have camped in Kisoro to rally support for their candidate, Rose Kabagyenyi.
This team includes the NRM Deputy National Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, Director for Mobilisation Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, and senior managers Rogers Mulindwa (Communications) and Samuel Eyenga (Mobilisation), alongside local party leaders.
During her addresses to voters in Butengo and Nyamiyaga villages within Nyanamo Town Council, Kabagyeni pledged to tackle the community’s urgent issues and enhance service delivery.
She also encouraged residents to engage with government initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM), which aims to provide resources that boost productivity and combat household poverty.
On Day 5 of her campaign, Kabagyeni emphasized the importance of unity among different religious groups and is scheduled to conduct several rallies in Bukimbiri Sub-County today.
Kisoro is set to elect a new woman MP on November 14, 2024, following Sarah Mateke’s passing.
A total of six candidates are competing for the position. Among them are Rose Kabagyeni representing the NRM, Aisha Chimpaye from the People’s Progressive Party, Grace Akifeza Ngabirano running as an independent, Sultana Salim Tana of the National Unity Platform, and Marble Ingabire from the Uganda People’s Congress.
