The National Resistance Movement’s Vice Chairman for Eastern Uganda has voiced strong objections to the ongoing degradation of wetlands in Bugolobi and Namuwongo.
In a post on his X page, previously known as Twitter, Mukula warned that he would organize a protest if immediate action isn’t taken to address the issue.
He specifically called out Majestic Commodities Limited, claiming they have blatantly ignored environmental concerns by filling in the wetland ecosystems that feed into Lake Victoria.

“Majestic commodities ltd who have defied all odds and have decided to backfill the wetlands of Bugolobi and Namuwongo ecosystem into Lake Victoria will now face massive demonstrations in due course>no trucks will enter these wetlands >UGANDA IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW THIS,” he wrote.
He added “We are going to mobilize thousands and thousands of people to stop this madness……watch this space…. Those who doubt capacity will face the wrath of the masses. #save our environment”.
