The police in Nakaseke district successfully apprehended three suspects in connection with the theft of a metallic savings box containing approximately sh9 million, thanks to the assistance of a police dog scooby.
The individuals arrested include: Abdu Mukanga, Adam Sekasi, and Godfrey Ondama all friends.
On September 21, 2024, the Uganda Police, as reported by spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma, responded to a burglary incident in Bwera Mpindi village, Kisoka Parish, Kikamulo Sub-County, Nakaseke District.
The theft involved a cash box containing Uganda shs9 million.
He said the incident was initially reported to Kiwoko Police Station by Jamada Bogere, which led to the deployment of a police dog named Scooby to aid in the investigation.
Scooby guided the officers to the residence of Mukanga Abdu.
Kituuma, who was addressing a weekly joint security presser at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, on September 23, 2024, noted that the police dog subsequently followed the trail of the savings box to the home of Adam Sekasi, a nearby friend of Abdu Mukanga.
Like a popular saying which goes that a thief’s good fortune only lasts for 40 days, it appears that Sekasi and his friends hit the end of their usual actions, after police found the box was discovered in pristine condition, with all the cash remaining undisturbed at Sekasi’s place.
Kituuma reported that all suspects have been apprehended and are currently awaiting the processing of their case for court.
