A 12-year-old boy, Edrine Babalanda, who was abode a taxi driven by Nsubuga Robert with his father when he unsuspetedly shot and injured by suspected stray bullets.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Patrick Onyango the bullets were aimed at aimed at suspected thieves who had attempted to steal from the driver of a Black Toyota Harrier (UBQ 699B) on December 31, 2024, at around 9:25 p.m.
According to Nsubuga, the driver of the Toyota Harrier shot at the taxi, claiming he was targeting thieves who had attempted to steal from him while driving.
However, a stray bullet hit the young boy, who was seated in the back seat.
Onyango said the shooter fled the scene after being informed that he had injured someone.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic by his father, Babalanda Moses, but was later referred to Mulago Hospital for further treatment,” he noted.
He said police have arrested the driver of the Toyota Harrier by the names of Kitaka Mohammed.
Onyango said a case of attempted murder has been preferred against Kitaka Mohammed and police are investigating the incident.
