Commissioner of Police Anatoli Muleterwa, head of the Community Policing Department, successfully spearheaded the launch of the Sub-County Policing Model at Kyabagambire Sub-County Police in Hoima District, Bunyoro Region.
The local community responded enthusiastically to the initiative, with many offering land for police personnel to use for cultivation.
In addition, they pledged further support, including providing more land and shelter for security officers stationed in the area.
This initiative is a key part of the Uganda Police Force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community policing.
The Sub-County Policing Model aims to improve police efficiency, reduce crime and violence, and encourage active community involvement in law enforcement.
Muleterwa underscored the critical role of community support, urging residents to contribute resources such as land to assist police operations.
He also highlighted the numerous advantages of community policing, including greater transparency, more effective problem-solving, and empowering local communities to play an active role in law enforcement.
