On October 19, 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM, law enforcement conducted an intelligence-driven operation at the home of Hassan Waiswa and his wife, Damali Nakanda, where they successfully recovered an AK-47 rifle along with 14 rounds of ammunition.
They also recovered a counterfeit motor vehicle license plate (registration number: UBH 408X) and a black Techno button phone.
This was in Kasokoso village, Estate parish, Central Division, Iganga District.
Damali Nakanda is the sister-in-law of the primary suspect, Robert Nfambi.
Nfambi, one of the individuals apprehended, confessed to owning the firearm and acknowledged his involvement in multiple robberies, including an incident in Kaliro District on October 1, 2024.
At a weekly joint security briefing held at the police headquarters in Naguru, a suburb of Kampala, on October 21, 2024, police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma reported that the suspect provided details about several accomplices, many of whom remain at large.
It is alleged that Susan Kadondo facilitated the transportation of the firearm for her husband during his robbery attempts, and that the weapon was stored at their residence.
Following her arrest, she directed her daughter to deliver a black suitcase containing the firearm and magazine to her sister Damali Nakanda’s home, where it was later discovered.
