On December 10, 2024, law enforcement in Kasangati initiated a raid in Wampewo Village, part of the Kasangati Town Council, following thorough intelligence work on one Martin Byekwaso.
According to Police, for a while, Martin had been under suspicion for allegedly stealing vehicles in the Kampala metropolitan area.
The police descended on his car garage in Kasangati Town Council, where they uncovered several stolen vehicles along with various license plates.
Six (06) vehicles were recovered including:
UBH145F Toyota wish grey in color stolen from kirudu.
UAV 370G Toyota Noah green in color. suspected to have been stolen from Natete.
UAL 630A mark 2 white in color stolen from old Kampala .
UAX 793E Toyota Noah grey in color.
Numberless, Toyota “kibina” white in color
Numberless Toyota fielder black in color.
Byekwaso had just left the garage however police managed to arrest a mechanic by the names of Kagenda Joshua (30) a resident of Mpelerwe, in connection with the same case.
16 number plates were also recovered from the same garage.
Most of these vehicles were found to have broken locks and starter switches an indicator that they were broken into during the process of stealing them.
