The Uganda Police Force has committed to overseeing the medical care of retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sam Omara, who is currently being treated at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
This assurance was communicated by the Director of Police Health Services, AIGP Dr. Byaruhanga Moses, during his visit to the hospital, accompanied by the force’s public relations officer, ACP Rusoke Kituuma.
Dr. Byaruhanga informed Omara’s caregivers that the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, has directed the logistics department to ensure all necessary financial support is provided.
The public became aware of ACP Omara’s situation after a heartfelt video from a close friend circulated, in which he expressed apologies to those he may have wronged during his service.
Omara is remembered is known for his decisive action in suppressing the Walk to Work protests in Kampala, which were spearheaded by Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, a former four-time presidential candidate in the years 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016, and other opposition leaders.
