Provisional Registration for 2025 National Exams Hits Record High – UNEB

UNEB senior public relations manager, Jennifer Kalule Musamba.

Kampala, Uganda– The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced a significant increase in the number of students provisionally registered to sit for the 2025 national examinations.

As of July 3rd, a total of 1,412,248 candidates have been registered across the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) levels.

This marks a 7.31% increase compared to last year’s total of 1,308,998 candidates — an uptick of 103,250 students.

According to Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, Principal Public Relations Officer at UNEB, 51% of the registered candidates (719,721) are sponsored under government education initiatives, including the Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE), and the Uganda Post O’Level Education and Training Program (UPOLET).

Kalule-Musamba emphasized that while the first phase of late registration concluded on June 30th, centers still have until the end of July to finalize candidate registrations—though a surcharge now applies. She urged Heads of Centers to register all prospective learners to ensure no one is left behind.
