Authorities in Rukungiri District are actively searching for three individuals connected to the murder of a 45-year-old man named Saturday Emmanuel, who lived in Matebe Cell, Kyamakanda Ward, within Buyanja Town Council.
The suspects were identified as Ayebare, Posiano, and Gorrette, all hailing from Omuyanja Cell in Kyamakanda Parish, Buyanja Sub-County.
According to police reports, the tragic incident took place on March 10, 2025, around 5:00 PM in Omuyanja Cell.
Jerome Katabazi, the area chairman, alerted officials after discovering a lifeless body at Biguri Trading Centre.
The victim, who worked for Thomas Baryamujura, was found with numerous injuries and bruises.
Witnesses reported seeing Ayebare, Posiano, and Gorrette attacking the victim with sticks and bricks. Some bystanders even claimed to have overheard the suspects plotting their escape before law enforcement arrived on the scene.
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi Region Police, stated that the motive for the murder is still unknown. He confirmed that the police were informed, and a murder case has been officially registered at Buyanja Police Station.
He said the officers arrived at the crime scene to conduct a thorough investigation, and the victim’s body was transported to Rwakabengo Health Centre III for a postmortem examination, as noted by Maate.
He mentioned that the suspects are still at large, but the police are actively working to capture them.
