The wife to the minister of foreign affairs Gen.JJ Abubakar Odong,Hajjati Pinkisha Shamim has commended the government for setting up the Islamic University in Uganda [IUIU] which has created educational opportunities enabling thousands of young Muslim women to become responsible citizens capable of serving their motherland Uganda and beyond.
Hajjati Pinkisha Shamim Odong made the remarks recently on the sidelines of the climax of the weeklong activities for IUIU Alumni in Kampala with impactful activities which benefited many souls.
The activities also comprised of a medical camp where over 600 people got free medical treatment courtesy of the IUIU medical alumni professionals.
She conveyed the message from her husband Gen JJ Odong and urged the University to continue with its role of shaping the girl child into an upright responsible citizen who would serve their country in future.
“What men used to do in the old days women are ably doing today even better therefore we must all commend IUI leadership for this facility.”
Both the IUIU director Alumni engagement affairs Byango Abubakar and the event organizing Chairman SSejemba Mustapha thanked the IUIU leadership for the support and opportunity to host the week long activities were students from Budo SS and Mbogo high school Kawempe among other schools benefited from the variety of activities lined up.
The headmaster of Budo SS Bukenya Muhammad said visit by the alumni members enriched the knowledge base of their students saying such opportunities’ are good for a bright future.
The executive director Uganda Muslim Teachers Association [UMTA] Nowerab Ajiri said her body which serves to promote the interests of the Muslim teachers across the country will continue to work with IUIU and all stakeholders in ensuring that their members are accorded the best opportunities to teach in a good conducive environment.
