A security guard at the offices of Kyolina Kyekikweyimilira Limited, situated on Mbogo Road in Kiwatule Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District, is reported to have been incapacitated by unknown individuals, who subsequently broke into the company, stealing shs51 million, 45 laptops, and 50 mobile phones.
The incident is said to have taken place during the night of October 20, 2024.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan police area, confirmed that the incident was reported by Hellen Nakayima, a 45-year-old loans officer at the firm.
Initial investigations suggest that the intruders accessed the premises by cutting through the iron sheets and the wooden ceiling.
Owoyesigyire stated in a release today, October 21, 2024, that the front door’s internal padlock was cut, resulting in the theft of a significant quantity of property, including clients’ items that were being held as loan collateral.
“A security guard employed at the company reported unusual circumstances the night of the incident, claiming he was given a drink by a visitor, which made him feel unwell, after which he fell asleep. Upon waking up, he discovered the offices had been broken into,” he noted.
Owoyesigyire reported that an official case of burglary and theft has been documented, prompting a team of officers from Kiwatule Police and Kira Road Police Division to visit the location for investigative purposes.
Preliminary findings suggest that the perpetrators dismantled the safe, security cameras, and other security systems prior to carrying out the theft.
He stated that law enforcement is actively following all leads in this meticulously planned crime and urges anyone with relevant information to step forward and aid in the investigation.
