Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, has officially handed over two licences to UEDCL to distribute and sell power throughout the country, replacing Umeme.
The handover occurred at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala. During the ceremony, Minister Nankabirwa expressed confidence that UEDCL will perform an excellent job.
“I’m not scared because UEDCL has informed me they’re prepared for the job. “As government, we are ready to take on the responsibility of power distribution and sale,” Nankabirwa stated.
She stated that UEDCL is now operating the Nalubaale, Isimba, Karuma, and Kiira dams, which demonstrates their competence to manage power distribution.
