According to a social media video making the rounds, UBF president Moses Muhangi has criticised the street brawls between artists, arguing them to channel their energy and body packs into a regulated platform.
The Uganda Boxing Federation, through its head, has extended an invitation to musicians Pius Mayanja, well known as Pallaso, and Patrick Mulwana, popularly known as Alien Skin, to resolve their escalating feud through an organised match.
The development comes amid the violent and cruel clashes between the two musicians and their respective groups, including a chaotic standoff during the empele festival in Buloba and the raiding of Alien Skin’s home by Pallaso. The controversy also stems from Pallaso’s December 31, 2024, performance at the Enkuuka festival, where he reportedly directed harsh, taunting, and unkind remarks at fellow singer Alien Skin.
“Alien Skin and Pallaso shouldn’t be fighting on the street. They should have a well organized boxing match to settle and end their greviances instead”, Muhangi said. He further highlights that the involvement of professional boxers within the entourages of the artists, alerting that such associations risk tarnishing the reputation of the industry.
Muhangi also emphasises that the proposed match wouldn’t only offer a safer avenue for conflict resolution but also promote corporate boxing, a concept UBF has been championing. He observes that corporate boxing allows celebrities and public figures to engage in professional bouts and has gained momentum and traction in the country.
The recent Boxing Day showdown between musicians Grenade Official and Rick Man was part of the climax of season 3 of the Uganda Boxing Championship League (UBCL) and drew significant attention.
