In response to the technical difficulties encountered with the e-visa system, Uganda’s Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control is now enabling visa issuance at multiple entry points.
A statement from the Directorate indicates that, to reduce travel disruptions, airlines have been directed to permit travelers who require visas to board flights to Uganda without needing prior e-visa approval. The government has acknowledged that the e-visa system is experiencing challenges due to a system upgrade, which is impacting its online visa services.
“Upon arrival, the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control will facilitate the issuance of visas at various points of entry,” the statement reads.
Travelers are required to comply with standard visa requirements and present the necessary documentation upon arrival.
This includes supplying the address of their destination and the purpose of their visit to Uganda. The visa exemptions are temporary and will remain in effect until the visa system is reinstated, as stated in the announcement.
