Senior officials from the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), including the Board of Directors and Management staff, have paid a courtesy visit to the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI) in Jinja.
The visit was part of UTB’s ongoing commitment to strengthening partnerships with key institutions in Uganda’s tourism and hospitality sector.
The primary goal of the visit was to assess the progress of UHTTI’s infrastructural developments, evaluate the quality of training offered, and explore potential areas of collaboration to enhance service standards within Uganda’s tourism industry.
The UHTTI leadership team, led by Principal Richard Kawere, warmly welcomed the UTB delegation and guided them on a tour of the institute’s newly upgraded facilities.
Following the tour, the UHTTI management delivered a presentation outlining the institute’s mandate and strategic goals.
Key highlights included updates on curriculum development aligned with international hospitality standards, partnerships with regional and global institutions, student enrollment trends, graduate success stories, and current operational challenges.
The UTB team commended the quality and modern standards of UHTTI’s facilities, emphasizing their role in strengthening Uganda’s human resource capacity in tourism and hospitality.
UTB also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting institutions that contribute to the professionalism and competitiveness of the tourism sector.
Additionally, UHTTI was encouraged to strengthen relationships with industry stakeholders to secure job placements for graduates.
The UTB team also visited the Source of the Nile to assess the progress of ongoing works at the site.
